Woman yells at kid that screamed directly in her ear, triggering Karen mom’s dramatic outburst: 'She even tried to encourage her kid to scream again'

For context, this story takes place at an airport gate while passengers are waiting to board. There's nothing worse than taking your seat on a long flight, only to realize you're sitting by some rambunctious children whose parents could care less what they are doing. Sure, you can put in some headphones and turn them up full blast to try and tune them out, but the parents are the ones who should be controlling their children. But of course, as all parents know, sometimes you try your hardest, and your kids are still crazy in public. But what's worse is when the parent is crazier than their kid.

Enter Karen. She and her child are waiting to board, and she's not paying attention as her child is using the seats in the waiting area as his own personal playground. No big deal, the Original Poster (OP) in this story thought. That is, until a few seconds later, she hears a piercing scream in her ear, only to turn and see the child a few centimeters from her face. You won't believe how the entitled mother reacted.

    I feel bad for the kid, as, I cannot see her future ending well with that sort of guidance. It was also a shame that the mother flipped, as I likely would have given the kid wings that my company supplies us with after the kid calmed down.

    Going NutCracken • 5h ago I don't mind kids unless they aren't well behaved. There's a time and a place to let your child be themselves. There are plenty of spaces for your child to be themselves. Seats at an airport gate is not one of those places. I see nothing wrong in what you did. I'm sure there will be plenty of people who will disagree with me. But that mother was in the wrong to let her child run wild in a gate area.

I do not blame you for snapping and honestly I would have too. I once had a friend intentionally yell directly into my left ear which I have a benign tumor in this ear and my hearing on that side is not only poor but sensitive too and she turned and screamed very loudly into my ear and it hurt!     doing the same to her but instead I just left. Kids can scream pretty loud and this same friend had the ability to screech this ear piercing screech that made your ears ring. I imagine the little kid screaming into your ear so close to you like that really hurt. I'm sorry that happened to you and I hope the remainder of your trip home was uneventful.

    . Head Razzmatazz7174 4h ago You handled that perfectly. You told the child to stop in your 'adult in charge' tone, and then didn't respond at all to the mother. Entitled parents like that love to get into arguments and she made herself look a fool screaming at someone who was completely ignoring her. Sounds like Dad got embarrassed and decided the best thing for them would be to just exit stage left.
